Il Washington Post racconta di come nel 2006 Bush abbia iniziato a finanziare segretamente l'opposizione democratica in Siria. Obama pare che non abbia smesso: "It is unclear whether the State Department is still funding Syrian opposition groups, but the cables indicate money was set aside at least through September 2010.".
